The Museum, founded by Count Ferenc Széchényi in 1802, contains over a million archaeological, numismatic, historical and fine art objects, from which rich display material has been selected for the permanent exhibitions. Through them the Museum shows ‘The history of Hungary from the time of the state establishment up to 1990′, and ‘The history of the ethnic groups in the Hungarian land between 400 000 BC and 804 AD’. I mean Szépművészeti Muzeum. Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest. The museum was built in 1906 on the Heroes’ Square. In the last few years I visited some great exhibitions there. Monet and some later Van Gogh…my favourites are the impressionists:)
Part of the World Heritage Site, the Castle, and within it the Royal Palace, stand to the west of the Danube on a hill of marl. A labyrinth lies inside the hill, while centuries of architectural and cultural heritage are visible at ground level.
For the Christmas we got two tickets from my sister to the Museum of Final Arts in Budapest to the Van Gogh exhibiton.
My favortie style is impressionism when it comes to painting and when I was younger Van Gogh was definitelly the No. 1. Later I turned toward Monet but Van Gogh still cast a very deep impression on me:) And now his works are visible in Budapest.
