Reconstructions and constructions

Budapest - reconstruction works

Again and again. This time they “picked up” the rails of the tramway 4-6 which is replaced now by busses. This photo is an artwork of Zannnie:) She took it from the car while I was driving with a speed that caused this cool effect:)

Richard’s Budapest

Szabadsághíd

Richard has sent this photo to us. Yesterday we have posted about the reconstructed Liberty Bridge in Budapest. Richard took this photo during the reconstruction work from the same angle.

Liberty bridge

Szabadság híd

The new design of the Liberty Bridge, Budapest. The bridge was under renovation and now they gave it back to the public.

You can see the bridge under reconstruction here.

The new Budapest

Budapest Critical Mass 2009

This photo represents the new Budapest hopefully. Lot of constructions everywhere (and scandals around them of course):) and more and more cyclists in the city.

Videoton

Budapest

Videoton used to be the largest company dealing with electronics in Hungary before 1990. The company exists nowdays, too. They consider themselves: Contract Electronics Manufacturer but I cant remember when I saw last time a new Videoton product. This advertisement is near the Ferenciek tere, Budapest.

Nóra’s Budapest

köki

Nóra has sent a photo to me about the construction works at the KÖKI. It means Köbánya-Kispest which is a part of the city in Budapest. This building used to be a train station and also the first station of the blue Metro. I never liked this area. The building was very old fashioned and ugly…I hope that they will build here something more practical and something beautiful:)

The next quiz question will be posted tomorrow!!:)

Ex-Ballet Institute

Budapest

The building of the ex-Hungarian Ballet Institue on the Andrássy street. Originally it used to be the Dreschler Palace designed by Ödön Lechner and Gyula Ártos and built between 1883-1886. Before the World War II it was a large Café House and from the 50′s it became the Hungarian Ballet Institute. A few years ago they have sold the building and they say a new luxury hotel will be here….maybe….

Maybe some of you still remember that last year, Meg (Nelson Daily Photo) and Jazzy (Tuzla Daily Photo) had both won a box of Szamos Marcipán each. This year, we (Zannnie and Zsolt) will offer to the winner a bottle of Tokaji Wine and the www.hungarystartshere.com portal offers one of their Hungary guide books in English.
