Lágymányosi Bridge | Lágymányosi-híd

Lágymányosi Bridge (Lágymányosi-híd)

Lágymányosi híd (sometimes Lágymányos Bridge) is a bridge in Budapest, Hungary, connecting the settlements of Buda and Pest across the Danube. The construction of the steel girder bridge was started in 1992 to the plans of Tibor Sigrai.

It is named after the south Buda district of Lágymányos. This bridge is the southernmost and the second newest public bridge in the capital; it was inaugurated in 1995.

Margaret Bridge

Margaret Bridge

The original deadline for finishing the Margaret Bridge reconstruction was 2010. August. It’s obvious that they won’t finish it within 1 month.

liberty, freedom, Szabadság

The Szabadság híd = Liberty Bridge = Freedom Bridge connects Buda and Pest across the Danube. It is 333.6 m long! The top of the four masts are decorated with large bronze statues of the Turul, a falcon-like bird, prominent in ancient Hungarian mythology. To be honest, this is one of my favourite bridges in Budapest :)

Foggy morning

foggy morning, Budapest

To avoid the morning traffic jam I came to work very early today. And at the Danube I found this foggy mood. Strange to be on the roads when you can drive without any jam.

It seems this reconstruction is an evergreen topic on our blog. But I guess in a few years when nobody will remember when and how the bridge was reconstructed these photos will give us an impression.:)

5th Anniversary Tribute to Eric of Paris Daily Photo from fellow CDPBloggers. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, all CDPBloggers are invited to post a tribute shot from their own city using The Tennin Technique of placing the camera on the ground to make an image, or of skewing/tilting the composition.

This photo of the Liberty Bridge is our contribution to celebrate Eric’s Paris Daily Photo blog. Happy 5th Anniversary Eric!:)

Minnie Mouse in Budapest

Mickey Mouse in Budapest

Gabi has created this photo.:) The tourist lady became Minnie Mouse after some photoshopping and Gabi’s comment is something like this in English:

Minnie Mouse got bored in the west. She was looking for some challenge in Budapest and now she is checking the public transportation system on the map before her adventure.
