March 14, 2010 - Kiskiralylany in a jester’s hat

The first time when I arrived in Budapest, Zsolt and I was there. He asked me to make a guess if this statue is a ‘he’ or a ’she’. Looking at this little child sitting on the tram’s fence with a jester’s hat, I guessed it wrong since at that time I still can’t read Hungarian.

This little princess (Kiskiralylany in Hungarian) is a statue created by Laslo Morton. It is very close to the chain bridge and in front of the Buda castle but on the pest side. Those who have been here will sure to know who is she :)

March 13, 2010 - Endless winter

Snow covered branches

I was tricked and thought that the spring is arriving. So you saw the outdoor dining table out there at the yard getting ready for weekend outdoor lunches/dinner. Nope I was tricked – see how much snow has gathered even on the branches…

March 3, 2010 - Downtown Budapest

downtown - Budapest

This is a street scene in the downtown near Oktogon, called LISZT FERENC named after the Hungarian composer, who is also a virtuoso pianist and teacher. I love the mood set off by the lightings. Right infront of this restaurant is a very special statue which I’ll show it in tomorrow’s post. It was kind of chilly at the point while I took this photo.

February 28, 2010 - lady statues

If you are here in Budapest, one of the must see is the Buda Castle which was built on the southern tip of Castle Hill. It is next to the old Castle District (Hun: Várnegyed), which is famous for its medieval, Baroque and 19th century houses and public buildings. This special lady statue sits right at a corner of the building.

You can find it at: 1014 Budapest, District I, Szentháromság tér

February 26, 2010 - Winter . Twilight . Buda . Budapest

This blue is how it is in the twilight in the winter season. This photo was taken on the Buda side. In this photo, besides the silhouette of the branches and the house, you also get a glimpse of the street vandalism which can be typically found anywhere in Budapest. Here is the series of street scenes of Budapest.

February 25, 2010 - Budapest Tram 41 in the foreground

The bridge behind is Freedom Bridge and it is one of my favourite bridges in Budapest. In this series about Bridges,  you can see all the bridges in various perspectives, day or night. It is recommended to check out the bridges when you are visiting Budapest :) Spring is coming, so it is one of the best season to see Budapest with all the bloomings :)

February 24, 2010 - Budapest’s snow melting

We have 8ºC today and most of the snow is melting. In winter, I love seeing the sunshine and the blue blue sky, cos this is when I think most of the photos looks best especially of the old buildings and architectures found in Budapest.

February 21, 2010 - Charm of Buda Castle area

Fishermen's Bastion

For some reason, the Fishermen’s Bastion is the most charming part of the Buda Castle area. Most of my friends from Singapore loved this place. None of them could resists not taking any photographs at the castle area.

This photo is taken by Lee Cheng.
