The public transportation in Budapest city is quite amazing. In particular Tram #4, it crosses the Danube, makes half a circle in Pest, cross the Buda and goes to Uj Buda Kozpont. You are recommended to checkout the route in the evenings too. Seeing the Parliament when it crosses the two bridges. Using Budapest Card or at as it offers you more information about how to get tickets.
