Extreme sport festival

extreme

Yesterday we saw a lot (and really a lot) of teenagers in the Westend mall. We followed them and on the roof we found this extreme sport festival:)

Blacksmith Shop

BeyondBudapest

I was very surprised when we visited this blacksmith shop during our Beyond Budapest tour with Gyuri. This shop is in the middle of the downtown right beside the National Museum in a cellar. When I was a student I passed by here almost every day without recognising it.

The 4th birthday of Budapestdailyphoto

Best of www.budapestdailyphoto.com

The Budapestdailyphoto blog turns to be 4 years old today. It’s been a long time and we are still on the board.:) We celebrate the birthday of the blog with a totally new template. I hope that you like it!

The photo is a repost actually. We took and posted this picture about 4 years ago and I found it pretty symbolic for today. Have a wonderful day!:)

Gypsy musician

Gypsy Musician

Yesterday finally we had the opportunity to participate in a Beyond Budapest tour in the VIIIth district of Budapest. There we met this gypsy man Kálmán Kis who is a musician. Besides visiting the Parliament Building, Buda Castle and all the touristic spots of Budapest we highly recommend you to contact the Beyond Budapest team!

Rent a bike

Rent a bike

At this place you can rent second hand or new bikes for a very good price. One day is around 2000 HUF (let’s say $10). The store is in the Podmaniczky street in the downtown of Budapest. I do not have a bike recently so I will consider to rent one at times:)

Comedy Theatre of Budapest | Vígszínház Night

Comedy Theatre of Budapest

Walking along the river Danube and strolling on the Grand Boulevard of Budapest, you can easily notice this impressive theatre building. Of late 19th century elegance, its design by Fellner and Helmer, whose 19th century “new-standard theatres” can be found scattered across central Europe.

Celebratin 20th of August

Körmenet

The most important relic of Christian Hungarian statehood, King Stephen’s mummified right hand, is kept in the Chapel of the “Holy Right Hand” (Szent Jobb-kápolna) located behind the sanctuary in the St. Stephen Basilica in Budapest. Every year, on 20th August, the relic is taken in a magnificent procession around the downtown streets close to the basilica. These priests on the photo are leaving the basilica for the event.
