If you are here in Budapest, one of the must see is the Buda Castle which was built on the southern tip of Castle Hill. It is next to the old Castle District (Hun: Várnegyed), which is famous for its medieval, Baroque and 19th century houses and public buildings. This special lady statue sits right at a corner of the building.
You can find it at: 1014 Budapest, District I, Szentháromság tér

Very beautiful photos the past couple days Zsolt.
Ő bizony a városvédő Pallasz Athéné, akinek a kezéből néha kilopják a lándzsát!
Zannnie,
Welcome back with a series of beautiful photos, have you been “hibernating” in the hills of
Buda this cold winter?
I am amazed that Pallas Athena, protector of cities, goddess of wisdom and the arts have survived intact the bombings and the siege during world War II and the shelling in1956 of the Castle by the Russian tanks.
I went to school in Juranyi utca and often climbed the steep hill up to the Castle to study with a classmate, or just roam around, but as a young girl what I saw was the rubble of destruction and did not notice or appreciate the beauty and treasure that was still there.
Oh Thank you, I haven’t been hibernating despite it was winter :) and its’ name is STATUE OF PALLAS ATHENA (PALLAS ATHENE-SZOBOR) according to the ‘Hungary Starts Here‘ site. Here are the details quoted:-
The Statue of Pallas Athena, protector of all cities and states, stands on the Tárnok road side of the square. The original was carved by the Italian master, Carlo Adami, and gifted to Buda in the late 1700′s in order to win citizenship of the city.
The carved limestone statue is 150 centimetres tall. Pallas Athena is depicted sitting with the Buda coat of arms resting on her knee and supported with her right hand; she is holding a bronze lance in her left hand. A small copper plate reminds us that she is Athena the City Guardian.
The statue on display today is a replica made in 1964.
