Aug 20 celebration

tisztavatás 129-1

20th of August is one of the National Holidays in Hungary. Oh yes we have three of them (March 15, Aug 20, Oct 23). Today we celebrate the constitution of the Hungarian state, this is the day of St. Stephen the first king of Hungary. On the picture you can see the swearing in ceremony of the new military officiers.

Streets of Buda

Budapest

I like the special mood of the streets of Buda in Budapest. This photo I took in the Ist district not far from the Buda Castle.

Summer blue

Budapest

Zannnie always says the best in Budapest is the very blue sky that she could almost never see in Singapore. I took this photo yesterday at the Kopaszi gát which is one of my favorite place to have a picnic.

Preparing the celebration

Budapest - Aug 20 preparation

British Bobby on the Sziget Festival

A Bobby in Budapest Sziget Festival

Since there are a lot of foreigners on the Sziget Festival mostly from Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands and UK they invited policemen from these countries. They serve the visitors on their own language in case of any problem. I guess its a good idea, makes people feel more secure. But to be honest their job is mostly to pose on photos with the lot of crazy guys and girls:) To see a Bobby in Budapest was unique to me and I also tried hard to approach him with my camera:)

BUDAPEST in Bold

Sziget

DAY ONE of Sziget Festival 2009 has a better atmosphere than the previous year. I had wanted a photo of this in the day, but it seems the ‘night’ version is better. What do you think? ;)

Sziget Festival 2009

Yesterday was the birthday of Zannnie. We celebrated it on the Sziget Festival in Óbuda which is during this week in Budapest.:)

New bicycle road

Bycicle road - Budapest

I took this photo in the XIIIth district. I hope to see more and more bicycle roads like this in the city. Budapest might be like Amsterdam one day where you can see a lot of bikes replacing cars.

Budapest Police Department

Budapest

This glass building is called “Police Palace” in Budapest. This is the headquarter of the Budapest Police Department and also the State Police Department is located here.

AEK Hospital

Állami Egészségügyi Központ

The AEK Hospital (Állami Egészségügyi Központ) was known in Budapest as the military hospital. Now it serves not only soldier but the public, too. The F1 pilote Felipe Massa was operated and treated in this hospital after his accident during the Hungary Grand Prix a couple of weeks ago.

From the balcony

Budapest

We went to the movies and in the Westend Mall on the 3rd floor one of the balcony door was I guess accidentaly open. I took the opportunity and stepped out taking this photo. Actually I have no idea what is this building, most likely its an office but with the church behind its really cool!:)
