This year the 20th of August fireworks were really very amazing in Budapest. And Richard was right in his comment yesterday, the event was pretty touchy when they played the national anthem in the middle of it. See more photos here.

How wonderful! And yes, I can imagine how emotional it would be to have your national anthem in the middle of the dramatic fireworks.
We were down by the Chain Bridge watching the fireworks – when the National Anthem played, all the Hungarians stood up, very cool! However, I’m pretty sure that in Canada we would all have been singing ‘Oh Canada’ along with the music! (I didn’t realise that it was being sung live by a famous performer last night!)
Patricia. I am from Toronto Canada. Your right we would have. The singer was Erika Miklosa. I saw her last year on June 15 2008 at the Imre Nagy Memorial concert in Kossuth Lajos Square in front of the parliament building. Her and Attila Fekete are amazing singers.
