gallop 196-1

At the end of May they will organize for the second time the National Gallop in Budapest. Hungary has a lot of tradition with horses and hussars and this new event tries to link people to their own history and culture. See more info on National Gallop here.

Did you finish your lanundry today?

Washing machine

No, this is not a public laundry. Its not common in Budapest, usually people have their own washing machines at home. On the picture you can see a store (Mediamarkt) with washing machines for sale.

Fields and flowers

Flowers

Not a common picture from a large city. But its also not rare to see some green and little flowers like this in the parks and in gardens of Budapest.

Elephant Parade for helping the Homeless

Elephant Parade in Budapest

Here’s just one example of the elephant calves which I’ve spotted on the streets and sometimes in the mall. It’s a campaign to call upon public attention to the growing number of homeless people. These elephant calves will be displayed in streets of Budapest and will be put on auction, the fund of which will be used to help the renovation of homeless shelter in Budapest. The social home named “Segítőház” situated in the 10th district is primarily known for its special support for homeless people who are dedicated to make a new start in life and with their lifestyle prove the intention of escaping homelessness.

Spring in Budapest

Munkacsi Mihaly

On a normal spring day, these fresh green leaves which grows by ‘climbing’ on this wall (of this building) looked just normal. Then in the Autumn, you can see how this wall is transformed simply by the season change to an ‘orange-red-brown-yellow’ which is simply beautiful…

Travellers’ Alert: Those who are allergic to pollens, this time of the year may not be the most favourable. There are indeed lots of pollens carried by the wind and ‘flying’ in the air!

Arched details of a facade

Munkacsy Mihaly
Mihály Munkácsy is a Hungarian painter. And this street where I took this was named after him. Since his paintings are mostly scenes or events from everyday life, such as markets, domestic settings, interiors, parties, inn scenes, and street scenes, he earned international reputation with his genre pictures and large scale biblical paintings.
Listening to this song along with this view, gives me nice soothing feelings.
