March in Budapest

Budapest March

We had quite a long winter. Its aready March but the spring doesn’t want to come yet. I can’t wait for the fresh warm wind and for the early sunshine when you can walk on the streets without being hurry. The photo was taken in the Vth. district of Budapest, at the Váczi utca.

Ministry of Agryculture

Budapest

Its full name is Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The building  is monument-like block with four facades, built in eclectic style. The ground floor is surrounded by a wide archway with 6-9-6 openings, and the first floor and second floor are connected by Corinthian columns. The building was designed by Gyula Bukovics in 1885/86 and used to accommodate the Ministry of Justice in Budapest.

Sunrise on the wall

Budapest

This sculpture is standing in front of the building of the Ministry of Agryculture. The early morning sunshine was reflecting from the Parliament Building and thats what you can see on the wall. Amazing, isnt it?:)

Lehel

Lehel

Lehel was the Magyar chieftain whose name was nicely ‘scripted’ here. He is one of the military leaders of prince Taksony of Hungary, but he died in 955. It was told that the famous horn he kept is still available now in the city of  Jászberény.

Before his execution in front of the German ruler, he asked to be able to play one last song on his horn. When he finished the song, in a last effort he rushed the German emperor and split his head open with the horn before he died. The end of the horn is chipped but it is still in beautiful condition and is one of Hungary‘s many priceless artifacts.
