March 31, 2009 - Matthias Church

Budapest

One of the oldest church in Budapest is the Matthias church in the Buda Castle. It was founded by the first King St. Steven though there is no material evidence for the existence of the Buda Castle Church before 1247. Anyway the Matthias church is very old so it needed reconstruction. But it seems they will never finish it…:)

March 30, 2009 - St. John Hospital

Budapest

I just arrived home from Istanbul to Budapest but instead of sunny spring this rainy, wet weather was waiting for me. We went to the movies and coming back home Zannnie took this photo of the entrance of the St. Johns Hospital (Szent János Kórház) from the car.

March 29, 2009 - Yellow ::

Yellow

”I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh all the things I’ve done
And it was all yellow”

- Guess who sang this?

March 25, 2009 - Facade

Another part near the Moskva ter

I like these kind of decorations at the entrances or facades and usually I will pause and look at them.  This one is quite old and honestly I am not sure when was it dated (but certainly old). I always feel it might have a certain story behind. And between these curves, its captured expression on their faces or amongst the posture – the effort.

March 24, 2009 - Part of Moskva ter = Moscow Square in Budapest

il treno, Budapest, Moskva ter.A little bit of sunshine makes the difference. This was taken at Moskva ter. (in English it is word by word translated as ‘Moscow Square‘). These buildings with colours are always beautiful to see. Somehow, Moskva ter is quite a popular spot for there are some destinations of the Buda hills which are touristic. So this square with the classic, old clock is a common meeting place for those going on excursions.

It is quite centralized for the Buda area due to its traffic and including a huge mall called Mammut. One can easily go to Buda Castle from Moskva ter on foot or by bus.

March 23, 2009 - Windy and the Spring Snow is coming

Budapest, Spring, Windy

It’s been a very windy day today, even the swing (”hinta”) is swaying to and fro by itself due to the strong wind. This is a garden view in Buda, awaiting for Spring. It’s strange, but the weather forecasts said that there might be snow on Thursday in Budapest or probably in parts of Hungary…Is the spring in where you live with some surprises of ’snow’ too?:)
