The Liberty statue is one of the most characteristic monument in Budapest. This is actually a group of statues, the one on the photo is on the right side of the 14 meters high main statue. The composition was changed many times over the time due to its political messages. Nowdays the monument’s agenda is: To the memory of all of those who sacrificed their lives for the independence, freedom, and success of Hungary. See more photos of the monument here.

I think that’s one of the best statues I’ve ever seen. Much better than the normal boring poses statues do!
Now, that was quite a surprise for me! How is it possible I haven’t seen those statues? Looking at the other photo I presume they are on the Buda side, right?
