Auchan

Auchan is a French supermarket. The funny is that nobody can prounance this word in Hungary. I always say like “ocean” but my French speaking friends said it was rather “oshaan” or something like that. I think if a company wanna be multinational better to chose a name which is easy to prounance for foreigners too.:) But on the other hand a lot of “hard” French words are already in worldwide use. Renault, Peugeot for example. So maybe I will be used to Auchan one day, too.

There is somebody in Hungary who can pronounce it well : Khádi ! But I had to give her one year training ;-)
In fact Peugeot or Renault are not so difficult to pronounce, as they don’t contain “nasal vowels”, which I think is the ultimate difficulty for Hungarian people in french prononciation. (with the “r”!).
Good to see your iphone in action!

As a matter of fact, I must confess that she still needs pinching her nose with her fingers for optimal results ;)
