Theme day: sister city

Brooklyn Bridge

Kitty wrote me a nice e-mail couple of weeks to offer photo exchange for this theme day. Budapest and New York are sister cities and for this month this is the topic of the theme day. We decided to exchange photos about the Brooklyn Bridge (New York) and about the Chain Bridge (Budapest). Do you see any similarities?:)

I hope one day I can see this bridge in real, too:)

Well, I’ve been on both and I think they are wonderful works, but my preferences go to Chain Bridge… :-)

  2. babooshka says:

Wll i nver knew that. Fascinating to see who is twinned with who.

  3. Elaine says:

They are very similar looking bridges. I have only seen the Chain Bridge in person!

  4. R.Shantaram says:

Read somewhere that the Chain Bridge is what removed the hyphen between ‘Pest’ and ‘Buda’; not sure how true that is, but look forward to seeing its photo… Brooklyn Bridge is great, but I’m sure the Chain Bridge is equally good!

  5. photowannabe says:

Interesting how similar the two bridges look. Great shot you were given.

  6. alice says:

Another good reason to travel to NYC!

  7. Olivier says:

très bon échange de photo avec le NYC de Kitty, et les deux ponts se ressemblent beaucoup je trouve.
very good exchange of photograph with NYC of Kitty, and both bridges are alike a lot I find.

  8. Gizelle says:

Most of us have Brooklyn as sister city….I love the photo you chose for theme day! Have a happy one!

  9. Kim says:

Good exchange, Zolt. The bridges were a perfect choice for you both! I’m trying to think if you’ve taken a photo from the Chain Bridge. . .wondering of one can walk across it like people in NYC are able to on the BB. It occurs to me that I’ve heard the population of NYC talked about as an “Hungarian goulash” because of the wide mix in population all making one city.

    Zsolt:
Thanks! For a Brooklyn boy, I am happy to see “my” favorite bridge on a Budapest site. The two bridges are very similar. I have heard New York City (of which Brooklyn is a part) as a “melting pot,” because of all the ethnic immigrants, but never the Hungarian Goulash mentioned by Kim?? However, I left Brooklyn many years ago, as a young lad!! Keep up the excellent work!!
