August 1, 2008 - Theme day: Metal

15th of March 007-1

For 2008 August, the theme day in the Daily Photo family is about Metal. I took this photo on 15th of March on the Chain Bridge where we celebrated the anniversary of the 1848 revolution. This guy was doing a performance with this old iron press. And as we know, iron is one of the hardest metals.:)

I haven’t figured out what he’s doing, but I really admire the full gray-scale you produced in this shot.

It was interesting to me how little metal I had to choose from for today’s theme. Metal is everywhere yet often it is just a part of the whole … Nice find for your photo.

It looks like an early printing press - pressing one page of paper at a time onto the galley of type.

We’re back from Budapest now - in Pulaski, VA. Took 1500 pictures. Great time! Great people! Great food! Lots of pictures of ironwork too.

Nice photo. My dad is a printmaker and collects old printing presses. He would love this.

I’m late getting around, but glad I stopped by. This is a wonderful shot, very ‘vintage’ looking. Was he actually printing something on that old press?
