WWII. bomb in the downtown

Budapest police

Police evacuated thousands of people in central Budapest on Tuesday where experts prepared to defuse a huge World War Two bomb found on a construction site. The two-tonne bomb is one of the biggest found in the Hungarian capital, which was heavily bombed by the Allies during World War Two. Earlier this month another part of Budapest was evacuated after a half-tonne bomb was discovered. During the second world war the Royal Air Force and the US Air Foirce has maintained more then 36 heavy airstrike against Budapest. No wonder there are still several bombs around even 60 years after.

  1. c’est impressionnant, cela arrive encore en France, ils vident des villages entier le temps de désamorcer la bombe ou de la bouger de place. Comme quoi les guerres ne finissent jamais ;o((

is impressive, it still happens in France, they emptied villages full time to defuse the bomb or the move of space. Like what wars do not end up never ;o((

  2. I co-moderate a forum on blackpowder cannons and mortars. There was a friend of one of our members that was killed a few months ago from a (US) Civil War mortar shell he was trying to de-fuse. 140+ years old.

It is good they took the precautions of evacuation.
