In Hungary football is(was?) the most popular sport. The football which is called soccer in the US. The American Football is pretty new in this country, to be honest I am even not familiar with the rules. Budapest cowboys is one of the new Hungarian teams, and last weekend they had a match with Croatians on the Margarete Island. The guys in white dress are the Cowboys, I was more close to the Croatian team. We havent entered the “stadium”, just spent some minutes at the fence. Some British guys (you know those bald British tourists who are always in groups and always drunk?:) were standing beside us and they asked from the blue team:
- Hey guys, where are you from?
One of them answered:
- Croatia!
Suddenly the chor of the British group started to scream:
- Gooo.Croaaatiaaaaaa..Gooooo.!
And it was an excuse to drink more!:)

I like american football (actually, I became a pretty big fan since the Super Bowl of last year. My bf has a Randy Moss shirt – ok, it’s an original NFL equipment maybe he is a little more fanatic than me:) So go Paaaats, go! ) I wish it was even more popular in Hungary, with fully packed grandstandes and “fiiiiiirst down” shouting people. Maybe a Budapest Cowboys vs Wolves game?:)
It was so good to see a pic about this sport, thanks for sharing!
I’m not the greatest football or soccer fan but the excitment that the game generates is fun to be around. Good shot Zsolt. Who won?
We stayed there only for a few minutes, so I do not know who was the winner..
