Houses like this are very common among the hills of Buda. Before the II. World War they belonged to one family only but after war they devided them into 3-4-5 apartments. Since during the war a lot of buildings has collapsed or seriouly damaged authorities managed like this to solve housing problems. After 1949 the original owners usually didn’t get back their villas, the communist ideology was against private properties.

Beautiful house. It looks like a mansion and must be lovely inside. A lot of larger houses like that one have been divided into 3 or 4 units and sold off as condominiums in the Boston area. I’m sure it happens in most large cities.
same here. The war really takes away many thingd =( But at least the facade remained beautiful.
What a grand and beautiful home. Its a shame that the owners lost their property and now many different families live there.
I am glad that some of these wonderful homes did survive the war and we can see their old world charm.
So are they still apartments? It’s kind of achingly beautiful, isn’t it…
yes…they are still devided units/apartments in buildingd like this…or at times offices..and at times again owned by one family only:)
