Knight

Knight

This statue is at the Fisherman Bastion on the hill near to the Buda Castle. I like these kind of old statues I always try to imagine people living in the middle ages. I just finished a book about Mátyás King. That time (around the 1480′s) altogether 2.000 people live in Buda only. And now 2 millions.:)

Elizabeth bridge

Elizabeth Bridge

The bridge got its name after the Queen Elizabeth. The first version was built in 1903 but during the II. World War the escaping German troops ruined it. The new Elizabeth Bridge as you can see it now…was built in 1965 refering to the shape of the previous one but with modern solutions. Its interesting that until the middle of the 70′s there were tramways on the bridge but then their removed the rails and now its only available for cars and busses (and of course for walkers).

(this photo was taken by Földes András and I got the picture from www.index.hu)

Cinetrip parties were quite famous some years ago. The idea is simple. We have a lot of spas in the city..and we also have a lot of parties. Why not to organize a party in a spa? Now day started them again. Next turn will be on the 1st of January.

More info you can get here.

Children’s railway

GyermekvasútChildren’s Railway is a special attraction of Budapest which I think doesnt get enough attention. Maybe its because it used to be the the communist pioneer-railway run by the youth section of the communist party before 1989. But I think whatever the ideology was the railway itself is a fun for children and a big deal.

The service is run by children between 10-14. They are really very cute being there and serving proudly as adults are working at the railway:)

You can see more about Children’s Railway here.

Roast Duck

Kacsasült

Well, are you ready for a Hungarian Roast Duck from the St. Jupát Restaurant? This place is famous of its huge portions and has a traditional style with their wooden plate. St. Jupát used to be very popular like 15 years ago being one of the best places of the Moscow square’s area. Nowdays its: just ok!:) (of course this is just mine opinion)

But their roast duck is definitelly great:)

Basszus én ezeket az ételneveket nem tudom angolul. Meg amúgy is…a lila “dízel”-káposzta, a tejfölös uborkasaláta csak magyarul mondják azt, amit én mondani akarok vele:)

Blockhouse

Budapest is not only about beautiful XIXth Century buildings, or about modern office buildings or bridges. We have several soviet type of blockhouses, too. Just like this one on the photo from the IIIrd district.

Fashion street

There is a law in Hungary which requires Hungarian titles beside every English (or any other foreign language) titles. As you can see on this photo, they do not really take it serious. Actually I am more practical when it comes to languages. I like Hungarian very much, but I consider the language as an always changing and living tool for communication.
