Last weekend we had a little party in the Clubhouse of the Soteria Foundation in Budapest. We just started a new program called Lotus to establish a friendly house for people with mental health problems. On the picture you can see the enthusiastic volunteers of the new initiative.

walking in the downtown
In Budapest, one recommended way that you can simply ‘sight-see’ the downtown is by walking. You can walk to the famous Vörösmarty Square (Gerbeaud Coffeehouse) – travelling on the Millennium Underground line to the State Opera House (followed by an interior visit) – walking on the Andrássy Street passing by – ’Hungarian Broadway’ – House of Terror – Kodály Körönd, then you can take the metro to the Heroes’ Square – Szécheny Spa – walking through the City Park to the Vajdahunyad Castle (with an interior visit) – return by the Millennium Underground – and stop at the city centre.
The Silence After Snowing – It’s Special!
It snowed again, in Budapest. I wondered if it is because we have a family guest from Tatabanya that brought the cold from there :) This is the ‘second snow’, i supposed. And the whole yard and garden has turned all WHITE. It so slippery to walk on the icy grounds in the morning. However, now I am truly beginning to wish for a WHITE CHRISTMAS! It seemed more possible this year in Budapest. In my opinion, the ‘sound in the air’ is very special after snowing, soooooo silent in a way, it’s special.
Indians in the downtown
Yesterday I mentioned about the Indians at the Vörösmarty square. If you want to listen to the music they played..click here.
A new glass palace
Again a morning shot
From a certain angle
The saint Stephen Basilica from a certain angle at night. The poster on the wall is about the “City mission” of the Catholic Church for advertising the church with modern methods in the city. You can read more here about that initiative.
Anybody at home?:)
With some photoshopping and croping I might adjust the quality of this photo but I am too busy nowdays:) So I just share with you as I took it. In real it was even more darker and the lights in the windows created deeper contrast. I said wow when I saw it (in front of the Basilica) and I grabbed my mobile phone:)
Back to Óbuda
Though I finished my Óbuda series few days ago I couldnt keep myself away to post this one, too:) I really love that square. So many interesting little details, its possible to take hundred of photos and exploring new and new miracles:)

Nehéz (Heavy), Spenót’s Budapest
Today our special guest is Spenót with this special photo! On the Flickr he gave the title “heavy” to this photo and he asked me to use this title here, too. I think its a very descriptive title!

Here’s how to ‘Be our Guest Photographer‘:
On the Flickr, we have opened a group called Budapest Award Group where everyone can add his/her Budapest photos and thus everyone is free to the awarding of the ‘Budapest Award’ to any photos in the group. Hence, every week the most popular photo will be invited to be featured on the Budapest DP.
