Denton gave me an idea about supporting local businesses. So I decided to write restaurant/cafe/pub reviews from time to time on the Budapest DP or reviews on services/stores/places which I recommend to you based on my own experiences.
I shall start with a great restaurant in the Sas street (V. district) called Café Kör. Do not be misled by the name…it is rather a restaurant than a café. The reason why I recommend it to you is because of the cuisine. Its very tasty and beside the special dishes, you can find traditional Hungarian food also (for example töltött paprika).
Its not a large place, one of its disadvantages is that its pretty crowded especially during the evening and the tables are quite close to each other. Almost impossible just to drop in, you have to book a table in advance. At times some people are standing at the bar waiting for someone to leave.
The service is perfect, waiters (I havent seen any waitresses) are polite and well trained (they know how to open a wine, how to make you taste first etc.) and they speak English quite well. The price is slightly expensive, one dish is about 10 USD (2000 HUF) and they do not accept credit card payment:(
You can find this restaurant very close to the St. Stephen Basilica and maybe due to the central location, it is usually packed with expats living in Budapest. To see more photos you can visit here.

Great choice! Café Kör is one of my favorites: the food is always good and not too heavy, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, it is popular but not trendy or too touristy, and the wine list is good and generally decently priced. Many times when I am feeling down, I go to Café Kör and it always puts me in a better mood. It’s the perfect bistro.
Wish I could visit that restaurant. It sounds very inviting. Nice photo of a happy crowd.
Reviews are always a fun thing to do. For me it requires me to pay more attention to the goings on around me, rather than just stopping down for somethign to eat or drink and leave.
