Budapest Stock Exchange

Budapest Stock Exchange

This is the gate of the Budapest Stock Exchange. To be honest it was a surprise to me to find it here (on the Andrássy street) because time ago it was located in a larger building on the Vörösmarty square. But it seems they have moved behind this cosy iron gate:) I am not well informed in this field because I am not really a share holder.

A new corner

Budapest

This photo is an example how the downtown of Budapest has been changing step by step. Last autumn I posted about a traditional house which is located on the Rákóczi street. Maybe hard to believe but most likely this building on the picture looked like the one on the Rákóczi street. Before the II. World War I guess it had the whole circle with these corridors but the building partly collapsed during the bombings. They never built up the whole block again..for decades the ground was empty. Nowadays they try to find new solutions by giving a modern feature to the old houses and new functions to the empty grounds between them. In this building, I find it interesting that you still can see once it had more elements, but with the new features it has found a new balance in a way.

Hezur’s Budapest

[ Km ]

Our guest for this week is Hezur.

This car is the legendary trabant made in the former DDR (Eastern Germany). I guess this is the only car which is made from paper. When I was 18 my first car was like this.:) Can you see how friendly eyes it has?:)

Here’s how to ‘Be our Guest Photographer‘:

On the Flickr, we have opened a group called Budapest Award Group where everyone can add his/her Budapest photos and thus everyone is free to the awarding of the ‘Budapest Award’ to any photos in the group. Hence, every week the most popular photo will be invited to be featured on the Budapest DP.

Vodafone Internet Bus

Vodafone Internet Bus

The double decked busses has disappeared from London. And where they are? In Budapest for example used by Vodafone for their mobile internet campaigne.

Is mobile internet working in your city/country? To be honest my experience is that it works properly in Budapest (where you can find a lot of free WI-FI) but in the country side it doesnt work at all. The whole coverage is simple a lie.

ARC exhibition

nike

Photo from www.index.hu

ARC is a special project to ….attract the average person’s attention to today’s Hungarian “visual-culture”…every year they organize a poster competition in different topics. For this year you could send your creative ideas among others in topics like “living and surviving in Hungary”, “how much the Hungarians tolerate” and………Nike. Since Nike was one of the sponsors.

In early September they exhibited the best works for the public. There are several great or funny works. You can see my report on them here. But for the DP I have chosen a poster which got removed and censored by the sponsor….Nike. Why? Do YOU have any idea?:)

Grandest ‘Wait’

Heroes' Square

I’ve captured in this shot, the perspective of the waiting moments before the most important event in Hungary begins. In this photo you can see their eagerness (even the men’s arm hair can be see). It was taken right before the parade commenced. This man held on to the gates as many spectators were there to witness it at the Heroes’ Square. I found a small strange detail : since most of the officers in uniform were neat, but I am not quite sure if the ladies’ uniform can be tucked out like this for such a grand event? Click here for the large format :) Have a nice ‘vasárnap’!
