If you had some doubts about the coming autumn here is a living evidence for it. When I took this photo I got pretty close to the chestnuts and suddenly I felt like in my childhood. Why is that as adults we do not collect anymore chestnut and colorful leaves on the street going home? When I was like 9-10 all my pockets were full.:)

Beautiful still life and autumnal tone. It is still warm here in the central U.S., about 30 today in St. Louis, but the days are notably shorter. I like that because it makes sunrise and sunset light more accessible for photographs.
Yeah, autumn is here. Beautiful macro. I still collect chestnuts :).
Beautiful Autumn marbles.
I’m sure if you will have children then you will collect leaves and chestnuts again :) I know it from my experience.
Anyway your autumn atmosphere photo is very cool and quite inviting to nature.
Now you collect such things in photos and your pockets are the internet.
I am not far off being 50 now, and I have to admit I still collect them each year. I visit a tree that my father used to take me to when I was a child. I in turn took my children to this tree. Each year I pick up about 50-60 and give them to the local kids. Conkers on string are now banned from a lot of schools as daft as that sounds it is quite true.
Me too, me too!!! The alley leading to my elementary school was lined with chestnut trees and many a time I was conked on the head ;-)
Thanks for that lovely memory flash, Zsolt! And for the beautiful photo…
I’ve seen lots of husks but only one tiny conker – I did a haiga at Autumn Haiku 2007 and plan a post on Hyde DP next Saturday when I’ll link back to this one here
The latest post at Hyde DP is Autumn Chestnuts and I’ve included links to some other chestnut postings including this one.
