Terrible Heat at 44 deg C!

Water fountainThe heat here is like 44 deg C ! Too hot and I felt breathless with a combination of dizzy spells in the head just like deprivation of oxygen in a sauna :(
The Budapest city council sent out about 90 municipal workers and volunteers to distribute 22,000 bottles and 15,000 plastic bags with drinking water across the capital. Water trucks can also be seen to cool streets and sidewalks and about 2,000 fountains were opened in parks. The Budapest city transport company also kept delivering water to passengers at major bus and streetcar stops. Somehow these gestures by the city council are commendable :)

How is the weather in your city now?

  1. The sun is shinning, the skies are blue, there are no clouds and it is only about 30 C/ 85F in Azusa, CA (LA).

  2. il commence à faire chaud à Evry, mais pas des chaleurs tropicales ;o). Bon weekend

the weather starts to be hot in Evry, but not tropical heats; O). Good weekend

  3. Wow, that is hot – we have been having a pretty normal summer so far here. Stay cool – I hope that you have AC to sleep.

  4. Your photo is so refreshing Zannie! All this lovely water flowing, it doesn’t feel that hot at all!
I sympathise with you in this heat wave, but as Ben said, we’d love some of it. We’re having a very cold winter here!!!

  5. Hi Zsolt

That is way too hot, 44C. We are having our first real winter in Melbourne in years. Cold weather at last. Not as cold as Budappest in the winter of course, but still cold.

  6. More rain, endless rain this summer, thunder and lightening storm, hailstones last week, farmers’ crops ruined, seaside places losing money. No summer at all!

  7. Ben..we send some heat to you with a pleasure. What about half of it? here we will have still 20 after we sent to you the half of the recent heat:)

  8. That’s much too, too hot. Please try to stay cool somehow.
Here the temperature is in the 90″sF. Its hot but not like you have.

  9. At 8:58 am it’s 62°F/17°C and the high for today is projected to be 71°F/22°C with partly cloudy sky and a nice breeze coming from the North (cool air from Canada). Overall, a beautiful day in Southeast Michigan. We have had some hot days this summer, but nothing over 100°F/38°C. Stay cool.

  10. I’m currently a bit to the east of you (Sibiu, Romania) and it’s boiling here too (the paper said 39 today, but it feels hotter – and it gets hotter in the afternoon too, is that the same in Budapest?). Earlier in the week I was in Bucharest and it was unbearable.

Next weekend I’m moving to Moldova where apparently it’s even hotter. Argh. I usually live in Scotland, we don’t do hot there!

  11. 44 degrees! It wasn`t hot like that during my study in Budapest. In Berlin we had 25 degrees or so. This was ok.

  12. Hello,
Here the weather is good but not very hot because it’s only 25°,but it reminds that summer 2003 we have got an heat wave in France during August for 10 days with temperatures over 35 to 40°.
Unfortunately about 15000 people have died mostly older people.

  13. Eh… In South of Italy we had same temps. In Torino we had 36 and today it seems to be a bit less hot. Thank you about this so well taken refreshing water !
