MKB Bank

MKB Bank

This building doesn’t belong to the MKB Bank. Only the advertisement on the top. Actually I posted this photo rather because of the sculptures at the narrow balcony. (Please click on the photo to see the larger version) They looked like ‘secret lovers’ escaping from the arrived wife to the balcony.:) Ok usually it happens with men..but this is Budapest:) And love is in the air……And why I gave this title? Because shorter than to type: secret lovers on the balcony:)

Manhole

Manhole

I found on some DP sites that you like to take photos of manholes. I found this in the downtown of Budapest in the V. district. The German-Hungarian text says something like this:

City-cooperation Vienna-Budapest.

I dont really know what they mean by this. Maybe they produced the cover of the manhole together or the canals under the city reach to Vienna.:) Whatever is the reason I find this manhole pretty attractive.

Spring

Spring

The “big” gardener knows when to invite the plants to grow. The roses and trees in front of my window started to prepare themselves for a new sunny spring. The weather report promised snow for the next week but they said this in December. And in January too. And there wasn’t any snow…so I don’t believe anymore.

After referring to God as gardener, have a look how good a gardener I am…………. here.:)

Hungarian Hussars

Huszárok

Still about March 15. When we do not deal with rioters this holiday is very nice. You can see “Huszár”-s on their horses and in their very attractive traditional uniform in Budapest. There is still an official “huszár” regiment (or a batallion I dont know) within the Hungarian army but only for representative reasons marshing up and down with their shiny horses on national holidays. And I love them:) Other Huszár-s you can see among guys who like to replay old battles. They have a website: www.magyarhuszar.hu the photo I posted is from that site.
If you wanna see more Huszár-s click here…..if you wanna see rioters choose this link.

March 15th

march15

Today is National Holiday in Hungary. We celebrate the anniversary of the Hungarian revolution and freedom fight which started in 1848 15th of March in Buda. It has been one of my favorite holiday with hussars (this word comes from the Hungarian huszár), horses and with the fresh wind of the spring.

I write this post on the 14th a bit before midnight. There is tension in the city. Nobody speak about the revolution in 1848, about Sándor Petőfi the young poet who stand up to the stairs of the National Museum performing his enthusiastic poem. The big quesion today… is if the rioters will be back, if we will be again the first on the NEWS tomorrow evening?………….

the 200th post

the 200th

This is the 200th post of the Budapest DP. Its really interesting to experience different feelings while you post day by day new photos of your city. And 200 posts is something…200 is a huge number in almost everything:)

200 glasses of whiskey? ..come on!

200 cheesburgers?

200 km/h speed?

200 cm tall?

I just hope to see my 200 posts your eyes didnt became like the bird (Owl? my English..ehh) on the photo:) Be careful! And most of all thank you for being with me during this journey!

Is it far from here?

freedom bridge

It’s not:) By cycling, it is only 900m away, to reach the Freedom Bridge. And as for the Lanchid, it is 2.7Km;)

Today’s is the 199th post. Tomorrow will be Budapest’s DP 200th post! wow…

Sunset at the fun-fair

Sunset

I havent been in the fun-fair for years but I drive along it almost every day. I was rushing to a team meeting when I recognised how dramatic was the sky on that windy day. I took a photo with my cellular phone quickly and its such a pity that the quality of it became very bad. I liked the sky so much that I tried to adjust its quality as much as I could and I decided to post it:)

Kínai üzlet = Chinese store

DSC07591

Kínai üzlet = Chinese store. In Budapest, there are quite a number of chinese. And mostly they are enclosed to their own community of chinese from China. I am a chinese too, but for some reason, the chinese in Budapest is not as friendly…so I supposed, even for chinese there are different types too.

But I know they are normally selling clothings. And chinese markets are famous for very cheap clothings in Budapest. You can imagine, they put the shopping items in ‘black garbage bags’ when you purchase them:) Most of the people dun mind that, as long as they bought something practical and cheap.
