This house called ‘Charlotte’

Charlotte, SzentendreThis house has the festive colours and it is one of the most bold in colours amongst the rest in Szentendre. I noticed the roof is tiled in such a smooth curve shape and it looked in harmony. We left before it got dark, i wonder how it looked like in snowy white:)

dressing up for the Christmas

Day of Maria in Hungary. This name is from the Bible. The original version was Mirjam but in the Latin and Greek translation it has modified.

Best of www.budapestdailyphoto.com

The downtown is getting ready for Christmas. And trees doesnt want to be excluded from the celebration. They dressed up nicely just like ladies for an elegant party. Can you see their long arms trying to touch each other?

The other day I posted about St. Miklós day…and some of you were interested about this tradition here.

Vörösmarty Square

Falatozo

Those of you who have responded well to the post about the Hungarian Cube Meat Skewers, shall now see a short video of the festive mood at this Vörösmarty Square which I’ve taken. The Hungarian sausages were what we chose from this stall, called Falatozó (this word Falatozó means eating place). It was shocking to see some Japanese women eating solely the sausage without going with bread cos’ that will be very very salty…

Kalvin Square

Day of Miklós in Hungary. The day when children put their cleaned boots to the windows and in the morning they find there their presents…(mostly chocolate). Did you clean your boots?:)

Kalvin sqaure

I took this photo yesterday’s afternoon..(ohh it was only 4 pm) on the Kalvin Square. I like this protestant church here…giving it a special mood to this place.

The Mini Wheel Barrow

Cute

Szentendre is a picturesque town which used to be occupied by the Serbian and Greek refugees who originally established a settlement here during the 14th century after fleeing from Turkish forces who had swept northward through Europe. Although occupation and upheaval categorised daily life in Szentendre right up until 1686 (when the town was finally liberated from Turkish rule) the community still managed to retain its traditionally orthodox religious beliefs by gathering in simple wooden churches to worship.

The colour of this pot of small flowers in this mini wheelbarrow had caught my first attention as we were walking from the left small lane. Szentendre has a ‘signature’ look of small streets and there was one lane which you could walk up to see a good overview of the Danube River as well as the small town houses. The width of this ‘stairs to the top’ is only about 3/4 of a metre (if I am not mistaken);) I personally like the small details on this mini wheelbarrow made of wood, do you like it too?

Today’s proverb is:

Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder

have a nice trip

Day of Barbara in Hungary. It has a Greek origin and it means: foreigner woman

Carriage

Children love to have a ride on carriages like this. And they like horses. And fun in general. I like to have a ride on carriages like this. I like horses very much…and I like to have fun in general. Am I a child?:)

The proverb of the day:

Do not check the teeth of gift horses!

A Blueland Folklore – Szentendre – 100th Post

Blueland Szentendre

We went to Szentendre today;) It was nice peaceful town that is very near to Budapest and this place is considered ‘touristy’ in some parts. We had Langosh, but this time, the ‘langosh’ tastes surprisingly better than the one we previously had:) Again we had the original ( with garlic, sour cream and cheese ;)

In today’s photo of the storefront of ‘blueland’, I’ll like to feature a small detail in my next post that I like alot and had caught my initial attention;) Make a guess which is it?

A: The flowers in the mini wooden ‘wheelbarrow’
B: The witchy-looking dollie
C: The ‘Blueland Folklor’ logo

The answer to this will be featured in my next post;)
