Hello Zsolt and thank you for all these sentences full of wisdom. I think Hungarian children are looking forward to this day of the year. In Eastern France (for example in Nancy where my daughter lives) Saint Nicolas is very important too, but here, in Western France, nobody cares…
We don’t clean our boots (don’t own them), but my children and my grandchildren still put their shoes out for St. Nic. It”s not a widespread nor common practice in US, but if families like mine have done it for generations, it continues. When I taught school I always had treats for this day. Love it! Comes from my German, Italian, and French heritage, I guess.
typical northern countries winter sky…but the image is nice!
I never heard of this tradition before. In fact I didn’t know about St. Nic’s Eve in the US either. I love learning about these things from the photoblogs.
Holiday Greetings.
Today’s celebration is something i learned only last year. It is an interesting way to tell the children if they’ve been good for whole year or not
ps. zsolt, you must be a happy man with all those proverbs under your belt!
Thank you for the nice comments..:)
I will write about the Santa tradition more on my Chaoren site soon so Ting and everyone who is interested can read about it.
I am very happy with the proverbs “under my belt” (again a new expression I learned Kris):)…and
I decided that some later I will continue to collect them. Just step by step:) We suffered a lot with the layout because I wanted to insert Jing’s great characters in any case..but with Denton’s help we could manage it. Thank you Denton..now the proverbs are so beautiful with the Chinese characters.
Jing..I will add your new proverb to the list..and pls pls collect more of them to me..and when I start again my collection pls do not hesitate to send them.:)
I wish you all a wonderful day..now I run to have my lecture.
