Puskás Ferenc

Day of Jenő in Hungary. This name was created from the name of an old Hungarian tribe.

Puskás Ferenc

I downloaded the photo from www.index.hu
When I arrived home yesterday afternoon I saw in the news that Puskás Ferenc the football player has died. I guess he was the most famous Hungarian all over the world. Wherever I travel to…saying I am Hungarian Puskás Ferenc’s name will be mentioned somehow.

He was really legendary. With the so called Golden Team in 1953 November 25 they beat England’s national team which haven’t lose at home in the last 90 years. On the picture is Puskás’s (in dark) dual with Harris. This post is tribute to Puskás Ferenc..to Öcsi (little brother) as his friends used to call him.

It’s not often I can say this in DP, but 1953 was before my time. Sad, though, to loose a legend.

Soccer, as we call it here in the states, is gaining popularity, and I’m supportive. Sorry about the loss and thank you for the tribute. Life is so fleeting that tributes are important. I shall look up his name and learn more about him.

He really was one of the very best! Responsible for destroying England’s hopes at Wembley in 1953.

Thank you for bringing this man to my attention. That is an incredible photo, isn’t it? I always admire soccer (football) players’ legs- they need so much strength with that constant running, stopping, starting, kicking. Amazing stamina.

I have also posted a memorial today to a sports legend here in Michigan who died yesterday.
